‘Mass Trespass’ EP launch: Friday 25th July!

We’re thrilled to announce we will launch our debut EP ‘Mass Trespass’ at the Betsey Trotwood in Farringdon on Friday 25th July, with the help of our good friends Andrew Butler and Lazy Heart Parade who will be opening for us! Two of our very favourite acts on the London folk scene, we couldn’t be happier that they’ll be part of this special evening. In advance, we’ll be releasing lead track ‘Drink Alone’ as a digital single on 4th July.

Tickets for the launch party are a humble £5, and are available here: http://www.wegottickets.com/event/276831

The Facebook event is here: https://www.facebook.com/events/767777476585990/

The Betsey is a lovely intimate venue, so please do get your ticket well in advance if you want to be sure of getting in!

‘Mass Trespass’ will be available on CD at the event and through our website from 25th July, and digitally via iTunes and the other usual suspects.

Paper Dress Vintage, 14th May

A huge thanks to all who braved the tube strike last night to come see us play at The Finsbury! Top fun. Don’t worry if you couldn’t make it though… We still love you!

Our next show is at the marvellous Paper Dress Vintage in Shoreditch on 14th May, where we’re thrilled to be playing alongside Daniel Pattison, Hattie Whitehead and Mock Deer. Can’t wait!!

Looking slightly further ahead, we’re almost done with mixing the CD and the artwork is now finalised… We can’t wait to have it all done and ready to put in your hands – which hopefully should be within the next month or so!

Fun times ahoy!

The Floating Aviary!

On Wednesday 9 April at Tamesis Dock the splendid folks at Folkroom Records will be hosting a bird-themed gig on a boat… and we are thrilled to be headlining! It'll be a real night to remember, with wonderful music from fellow bird-bands Herons! and HAWK – each of whom alone is well worth the humble £7.50 asking price. This is the most exciting gig we've ever played (did we mention it's on a boat?!), and we hope you can be there to share it with us! Tickets are selling fast, there may be some on the door but if you want to make sure you can come then get yours in advance here:

Other gig news

After the Floating Aviary, we've then got a few more gigs lined up over the coming months. We're currently booking more, but in the meantime may we recommend the following dates for your diary:

CD news

Over the last few weeks we've been recording our debut mini-album 'Mass Trespass' with BBC Folk Award-nominated Ben Walker. We're currently mixing it, and it's sounding pretty gosh-darn exciting! We're planning to release it at the end of May, and we'll keep you posted about the release date – and of course the launch party!

Making (Natural) History

Finally, we were lucky enough to play a show at the Natural History Museum last Friday as part of their 'Lates' season! Here's a shot of us playing to a couple of hundred lovely people, with Mr Darwin himself on backing vocals… Thanks to Natalie Longman for the photo!

A record of an event

Hello! It’s a while since we’ve spoken, how’s things? We’ve been quiet on here, but we have been busy in the background and we’ve some exciting news to announce…

We’ve recorded our first EP!

We were lucky enough to record in Crypt Studio in Crouch End (previously home to Madness, To Kill A King, Battles, Lucy Rose, The Staves, Katzenjammer, Snow Patrol and others…), with the expert help of our wonderful producer Ben Walker (who has the best collections of both microphones and guitars that we’ve ever seen!).

We got a decent way down the road mixing it all as well, and – if we do say so ourselves – the early mixes are sounding INCREDIBLE. We can’t wait to share the finished songs with you! We’re currently looking at a late May release (with a storming launch party, natch!) and we’ll keep you posted.

Oh, and the title of the EP?

Mass Trespass.

Video: “Hunker Down” at the Hope & Anchor

Just before Christmas we played a barnstormingly fun gig at the wonderful Hope & Anchor in Islington – legendary home of punk, and now of folky swing! Here’s our tune “Hunker Down”, a relatively new song and so much fun to play that we’re thinking about including it on the EP we’re recording in February…
