Ringlefinch Listens: Christmas Edition!

Hello hello! How are you? Presents bought, tree up, wine mulled and pies minced? Or scrambling round Westfield trying desperately to remember who's supposed to be getting what, and did I get those socks for Dad last year, and where on earth can I get a tree now? Think you can guess where we are…

It's been a stonkingly marvellous year, full of excitement, gigs and friends old and new! We've been lucky enough to share stages with some truly marvellous bands – too many to mention, but have a look at the “Friends and Folks” page and you'll see some there. Particular highlights for us have been Patch & the Giant's Sunday Fete, the three Folkroom Fortnightlies we've done, the magical Before the Gold Rush acoustic night at the Haberdashery, and of course headlining the folk stage at the Tabard for Chiswick Oxjam! Huge, huge thanks to everyone who's supported, encouraged, clapped along and generally been completely marvellous along the way – we couldn't do it without you, and for as long as you want to hear from us we'll continue to bring the folky-swing good times!

There's loads to look forward to next year as well, of course… Plenty of gigs in the new year with our cracking new lineup, recording our first EP, curating a night at the Harrison for Folkroom, and maybe even some festivals… Don't want to spoil all the surprises though! So here's a little folky Christmas present from us – a lovely Spotify playlist put together for you by our awesome new friend and guitar-maestro Arun – and we wish you a very, very merry Christmas and thoroughly happy New Year! xx

Full house!

BIG NEWS: We’re highly chuffed to welcome the super-talented Arun Entwistle to the band as our new guitarist! It feels great to be back up to full strength – a new era for the Ringlefinch machine, with lots of exciting times to come…

Arun played a blinder in his first gig with us on Tuesday, a mere 7 days after his audition (which was also his only rehearsal with the band!), so great things clearly await. In particular, they await on Sunday at the Betsey Trotwood! See you there!

Moving Pictures With Sound

– Do you like music?
– Do you like moving pictures?

Here’s a moving picture WITH MUSIC (“talkie”) for your enjoyment, of our ditty ‘La Grippe’ captured when we played Patch & the Giant’s Sunday Fete at the Boogaloo in September…

Thrilling news…

Chiswick Oxjam was absolutely corking, thanks so much to all who came down to our warmup set at the Eagle or our headline slot at the Tabard! All the other bands we saw were just brilliant (particular shout out to the lovely Tim Jones & the Dark Lanterns for their trad-influenced, harmony-drenched slices of folky sunshine) and it was a real honour to play for such brilliant audiences and for such a great cause. Speaking of great causes – Chiswick Oxjam raised £18,000 for Oxfam this year! Amazing.

Next up is our Halloween “Thriller” gig at the Good Ship next Thursday 31st October, where we and 8 other bands will each be covering a song from Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” album! Tickets are only £3 and it will be HEAPS of fun, so come along and see what SUPER SECRET SONG we’ll be playing…
