Oxjams, Phenomenal Cats, and some very exciting news!

Hello! October at last, and everything seems to have gone a bit autumnal of a sudden. Never mind, we’ve got some stomping good times planned to keep you warm!

Welcome Anna!
There’s lots going on in Ringlefinch HQ at the moment – loads of gigs coming up, including two showcase gigs for Oxfam’s ‘Oxjam Takeover’ festival in October, and a super secret project for later in the year… But first of all we have some extremely exciting news! Our dear friend and viola player Gilian has stepped back from the band for a while to go and have her baby (congratulations Gillian, and good luck!), and we’re delighted to announce that we’ve been joined by the supremely talented Anna Menzies on cello! Anna brings a wealth of experience playing in many different styles to the Ringlefinch experience (ask her about The Who some time!), and we’re absolutely delighted to welcome her to the family. What’s that? You’d like to know when you can come and hear her in action with us?

October shows
We’re thrilled to have been invited back to headline the Folk Stage at Oxjam Chiswick at the The Tabard Pub by Turnham Green again this year, next Saturday 11th October! Then the following Sunday 19th we’re kicking things off with Rick Jakubowski’s Phenomenal Cats at the Boogaloo in Highgate, before ambling down to headline Paper Dress Vintage for Oxjam Shoreditch Takeover later on. Then on Wednesday 22nd we’re playing good old The Harrison at Kings Cross with our friend The Kat Healy Music Club and The Jellyman’s Daughter as part of Kat’s tour for her recent EP launch. Hope to see you there!

And of course… keep your eyes open for a surprise as we get towards Christmas…

19 Oct – Oxjam Shoreditch:

September gigs, and a Mass Trespass pilgrimage…

Holiday seasons is more or less over, and we can report first-hand that some of the trees in the Peak District are starting to go a very autumnal shade… But help is at hand! To help the summer last as long as possible, we’re playing gigs throughout September for you. We hope to see you there, to help us see it out with a bang!

– Sunday 7 Sept, 5pm: Acoustic Sundays at St Peter’s Crypt, Northchurch Terrace, N1 4DA.

– Weds 10 Sept, 7.30pm: Songwriters & Wordsmiths at Brixton Hootananny, 95 Effra Road, London SW2 1DF

– Sat 27 Sept, 7.30pm: Before the Gold Rush at The Slaughtered Lamb, 34-35 Great Sutton Street, London EC1V 0DX

In the meantime, we went on a small pilgrimage at the weekend to Kinder Scout – the site of the original mass trespass, inspiration for the EP title…

Playing The Fringe

A tired and very happy Ringlefinch is heading home from the Edinburgh Fringe… What a weekend!

We played 8 shows in two and a half days, and loved every minute (so much fun!) – but more than that, we met so many fantastic people and heard so much fantastic music that we’ll always remember this with a smile.

Some incredible highs – getting a church-full of 400+ people jumping, in particular! And some bittersweet moments too – our beloved Gillian has stepped back from the band to go and have her baby. Good luck Gillian, we will miss you!

Thank you to everyone who saw us, who danced and sang along, who came up for a chat, who bought a cd or put into the hat, who raised a glass with us, or who was in any way a part of making this one of the best weekends of our lives. We couldn’t do this without you.

Photos soon!

EastCast Radio session now live!

First of all, a HUGE thank you to everyone who came down to our ‘Mass Trespass’ EP launch at the Betsey Trotwood on Friday – and in particular to the marvellous Andrew Butler and Lazy Heart Parade, who kicked the evening off and were both brilliant! We had a wonderful, wonderful night and all agreed that it was the most fun we’ve ever had playing live. So we’ll be looking to recreate the experience at the Boogaloo on 10th August – hope you can make it, particularly if you weren’t able to make the launch!

In the meantime, we did an interview and session with the lovely folks at EastCast Radio in east London recently – it was broadcast this morning, and you can hear it again here: http://eastcastshow.com/2014/07/28/studio-interview-live-session-with-ringlefinch!

Finally, we’ve updated the Photos section of the site, including some fantastic shots of the ‘Mass Trespass’ recording session by Liat Wicks (who did the ‘Mass Trespass’ cover photos), and some brilliant promo photos by Uli Kilian from January this year. Hope you enjoy!
